Featured Student-Athlete: Jamerison Martin
The last of the New Chapel, MS native seniors; Jamerison Martin, is nothing short of lightning in a bottle. Martin is a very explosive player who can pile up the points very quickly. J. Martin is a senior out of Mississippi at Amory High School. He is the son of DeShanna Martin. He currently has a 2.6 GPA. On the court, he is averaging 14.2 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 4 rebounds per game. It's no surprise that Martin joined the 1000 Career Points club being that he is a threat driving to the goal, mid-range pull-up jumper, and a long-range deadeye. Although; Martin is a downright scorer, his exceptional ball-handling and vision are why he is listed as a point guard. In his junior year, he helped lead his team to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Martin's "Mumba Mentality" is what separates him from other guards at his position. Although his knack for points is his strong suit, Martin has great vision and his long arms make him a good rebounder also. What sticks out about his game is his great ball-handling skills. His ability to create separation for his dead-eye mid-range shot or leave his defender behind with great ball control at the rim frustrates defenders. Martin is well on his way to another amazing season leading the Amory Panthers to a 21-5 season so far. J. Martin has committed to play ball at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, MS!
